A tour from Matera to Montescaglioso, cycling along a path twisting and turning through olive and fruit trees. You’ll have the chance to visit the Benedectine Abbey of Montescaglioso and take a break in an agritourism, having a picnic and hanging by the pool.

The path is constituted by an old road going from Matera to Montescaglioso, there isn’t much traffic and the view is quite suggestive. By cycling along the Murgia, you’ll be passing through wheat fields, olive groves and agricultural landscapes that continually change depending on the time of the year. Most of the route is hilly, though the last few kilometres going up to the town of Montescaglioso may prove to be slightly more difficult. Anybody not feeling like going all the way up to Montescaglioso has the option to stop at the agritourism, where you’ll have the chance to relax, have a snack or hang by the pool whilst you wait for the van that will be taking you back to Matera.
